Riftbound Price Tracker

I’ve gotten into Riftbound as a hobby after moving to Ottawa as a means to meet people and have more face to face time with friends away from the computer. As I’ve been buying and selling more cards, I found if I had several cards I was interested in checking TCGPlayer routinely to see if prices were good to buy/sell was becoming a pain, and instead I just wanted to have a website where I could sign up for alerts that would notify me if a price was at my desirable range. Initially I wanted to use TCGPlayer’s API directly, but it’s only available for business users. Instead, I found an open API with no keys required that collects (close enough) data on prices for cards across several TCGs, including Riftbound. Since this API only provides a snapshot at the current point in time for prices, the website is responsible for keeping a running history (the last 30 days) of tracked card prices, and uses that to track rising or falling price states.

For the catalog itself I wanted the same look and feel as searching cards on piltover-archive, and to keep user management simple I used Supabase to jumpstart the backend database.

As a supporting tool for selling or trades, there’s also a deck value tool implemented where you can paste an exported decklist (or partial decklist) of cards to estimate the total value of the cards you’re interested in as well.

The site’s hosted via Heroku with push integrations with Github, and linked as a subdomain to this site for convenience.

Stack

  • Vue 3 on the front end
  • Supabase for accounts and authentication, which is what makes favourites and alerts per-user rather than per-browser
  • Prices synced from a free TCG pricing API on a daily cycle
